Haplogroup R1b is the most common Y-DNA haplogroup in western Europe.  It reaches a frequency of 70-80% in the British Isles (please see distribution maps).  R1b is the group believed to have re-populated Europe from an Iberian refugium when the last glacial ice sheet retreated about 10-12,000 years ago.
R-1b1a-2 is the most common subclade of R1b, and some R-1b1a-2 project members will find they have a WAMH logo on their member page.  WAMH is an acronym standing for "Western Atlantic Modal Haplotype."  Having a WAMH logo on your member page at FTDNA indicates you have one of the four most common 12-marker haplotypes in western Europe.
R-1b1a-2 individuals, especially WAMH individuals, will find they have many genealogically insignificant matches (in other surnames) at low levels (12, 25, and even 37 markers).  R1b's need to test 67 markers to be confident of their relationships; and, if the match is borderline, they need to test 111.
R-1b1a-2 individuals may also want to consider deep SNP testing to further refine their haplogroup subclade.  Among other things, deep SNP testing can reduce the risk that a haplotype match is merely coincidental.
Project members are encouraged to join the_R1b Haplogroup Project, which you do from your FTDNA member page by clicking the "Join Projects" button and choosing the R1b project — and, once you have been deep SNP tested, to join the appropriate R1b subclade project.

Sixteen project members are some form of Haplogroup R1b.
They fall into two subclades and six families, though they would likely fall into more subclades if deep SNP tested.

The closely matching test results for these individuals strongly support that they have a near common ancestor, probably the same immigrant ancestor.  Their haplotype closely resembles the R1b modal haplotype and exactly matches the WAMH at 12 markers, so they have thousands of full matches at 12 markers and hundreds of near matches at 25 markers in the FTDNA database, but no full matches at 37, much less 67 or 111 markers, except with each other — and a FROST, who appears to have an NPE in his patrilineal line.

#144281 was initially tested to 43 markers at DNA-Heritage.  He has since joined the BIDDLE project and been re-tested at FTDNA to 67 markers (markers tested by both companies agree).  Because he is WAMH at 12 markers, he has over 2000 full 12/12 matches in the FTDNA database, including the Deme-2 individuals.  The number of matches falls off at 25 markers, and he has only one near match at 37 markers (in another surname).  At 67 markers, he has no matches, at all.

With a match of 63/67, these individuals have a near common ancestor, though probably back in England, not in the USA.  The two BUDDLEs are known to have the same progenitor, so the mutation from 26 to 27 at DYS447 is a recent and "private" one for #143413.  If #92426 would upgrade to 67 markers, he would be expected to match #143413 on those 30 markers.

These individuals have rare haplotypes, not surprising given their distance from the modal haplotype for R-P312.  In the FTDNA database, they have no significant matches, except with each other.  They have no significant matches at SMGF.
It does appear that BIDDLE is probably an Anglicized spelling of BECHTEL/BECHTOL.  If you do a search at the LDS web site on surname "BECHTEL," you'll see that it includes BECHTOL and BIDDLE, among others, as variations.  These four individuals are also members of the Bechtel Surname Project.
I urge BIDDLE #210386 to upgrade to 67 markers, to see where he stands with regard to the mutations at DYS578 and DYS534.
#128621 has been given a backbone SNP test, with the result that he is M269+, making him R-1b1a-2.  I recommend that someone in the family be deep SNP tested, to determine their subclade; however, I would place testing to more markers as the greater priority.
Geographical Note:  Delaware Co., PA, was formed from Chester Co., PA, in 1789.

#206484 has an unusual haplotype, one that is quite different from the R1b modal haplotype, especially in the first 12 markers.  For that reason, FTDNA was unable to deduce our subject's haplogroup, so they have given him a gratis backbone SNP test to determine, with certainty, that he is M269+, making him R-1b1a-2.  I recommend our subject be deep SNP tested and that he then join the appropriate R1b subclade project.
Jim Cullen's haplogroup predictor gives these results:
R1b-Frisian3 =>39%  R1b-Irish/Continental =>33%  R1b-S28 =>17%  R1b-Frisian4 =>10%
Not surprisingly, given his rare haplotype, our subject has no matches at any level in the FTDNA database.  His nearest full match at SMGF (Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation) is only 9/9!  I recommend our subject upload his results to YSearch (see link on the Matches tab of your member page) to increase the odds of finding a match.

Haplogroup R-1b1a-2a1a-1b = R-P312

Armagh, Ireland
Our BITTLES has over 50 matches at 12 markers (in other surnames), but only near matches at 25 markers (23/25 and 24/25, in other surnames).  Because he has no full matches at 25 markers, there is currently no pressing need to upgrade to more markers.
Our subject has been deep SNP tested with these results:
U106- P312+ M65- M153- U152- L20- M228.2- L21- L176.2-
The negative result for U106 proves he is not R-1b1a-2a1a-1a.  The positive result for P312 proves he is R-1b1a-2a1a-1b.  The negative results for M65 and M153 prove he is not -1b1 or -1b2.  The negative results for U152, L20-, and M228.2 prove he is not -1b3.  The negative results for L21 and L176.2 prove he is not -1b4 or -1b5.  In other words, he is root/ancestral R-1b1a-2a1a-1b* (= R-P312*), not any of its currently known subclades.

What constitutes a match?
Matches in other surnames are usually mere coincidence, so please ignore them — I'll let you know when you shouldn't!

For 25 markers:  21 or less is a non-relative; 22-25, please see this Chart compiled by FTDNA.
